The "Butt-Brake" Bike

3 notch Century-----Screwing Around-----Projects----Shop Dog

A rider with no hands wanted to ride a traditional road bike.
He had prosthetic expansion hooks that allowed him to solidly grasp a handlebar, but he couldn't pull a brake lever.
We made this mock-up for him, with the brake levers directly behind the saddle.
Now, to stop, he slides back on the seat to hit the brakes, which is the position one naturally wants to be in while braking.
His bike features Shimano Di2 electronic shifters, that make shifting as easy as clicking a computer mouse.
Now, he can ride as fast and as far as he, or anyone in his group, wants - while being able to confidently control his speed.
